If so, you won't want to miss Ernst Blatter, the featured speaker at the Charlotte County Genealogical Society meeting this month. His topic will be "Digital Photography—a Useful Tool in Genealogy." The meeting will be. held at 2 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, at Quesada and Viscaya. Also on hand to greet members and guests will be the new officers: President Jan Masteryanni; Vice President Karleen Cogswell; Recording Secretary Dorothy Heimnick; along with Bob Tedford and Helen Volpe, who were re¬ elected to posts of treasurer and correspondence secretary, respectively. The newly formed Alliance of Genealogical Sociedes of Southwest Florida has released final plans for GEN-FAIR 2000 and invites you to join other genealogists in the area in kicking off the year 2000 in grand style, genealogically speaking. The date to mark on your calendar is Saturday, March 4, 2000. The time: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The place: Shady Oaks Community Center, 3280 Marion St., Fort Myers. Sponsored by the Alliance of Genealogical Societies of Southwest Florida, of which the Charlotte County Genealogical Society is a member, GEN-FAIR promises to be the genealogical event in this area for the year 2000. Other members of the newly formed alliance and co-spon¬ sors of the fair are: the Genealogical Society of Collier County and the Lee County Genealogical Society. In addition, top-notch vendors will be on hand to show the latest in genealogical materials while door prizes will be awarded throughout the day. The regis¬ tration fee of $30 before Jan. 31 ($35 thereafter) includes lunch and an informative syl¬ labus. Space is limited, folks, and this is a three-county affair so don't delay. Registration forms are avail¬ able at the Cultural Center of Charlotte County, and will be available at the January CCGS meeting.
