Lois Cole Peeples (1907-1994), daughter of early pioneers Addie and Gus Cole. Her husband, Vasco Peeples, served in the Florida House of Representatives, as did her son, Vernon Peeples, Sr. Mrs. Peeples helped organize the Democratic Women's Club of Charlotte County and served on the Democratic Executive Committee for over 20 years. She was the first woman to join the Punta Gorda Rotary Club and was a 35-year member of the Punta Gorda Business and Professional Women's Club.
