This photo shows the view from the front yard of Peace River Lodge, looking northwest toward Charlotte Harbor. The riverfront hotel was built in 1885 by Dr. A.T. Holleyman, the founder of Cleveland. The venerable sportsman's lodge, which could accommodate forty guests, was also known at various times as the National Hotel, Baxter House, and Beajim's Lodge. It survived through Hurricane Donna in 1960, but was lost to fire in 1965.
