Browse the Alligator Creek Fire District Collection



The Alligator Creek Fire District Collection features an oversized scrapbook of photographs and newspaper clippings compiled by the original volunteer crew of the Alligator Creek Fire Station, which was built on donated land using funds raised by the volunteer firefighters. The scrapbook covers the years from 1974 through 1980. The Alligator Creek District is now part of the Charlotte County Fire Department.

The Friends of Music of Charlotte County Collection includes a small selection of promotional and performance photographs representing the Friends' evening Concerts Series, Concerts for Youth, and morning Musicales; just a few of the programs initiated during their 33-year service to the community. The Friends of Music of Charlotte County, devoted to the public appreciation of classical music, dissolved in 2005. The Friends' archives, files, scrapbooks, photographs and administrative records were presented to the Charlotte County Historical Center by Virginia Karel and Muriel M. VanPatten on behalf of the non-profit organization.

Browse the Port Charlotte Garden Club Collection



The Port Charlotte Garden Club Collection consists of four scrapbooks of photographs, documents and news clippings featuring the club's community projects, events, and activities. Originally sponsored by the Punta Gorda Garden Club, the two groups met on different days at the same building , sharing resources and storage space. The scrapbooks, covering the years 1957-1965, 1965-1970, 1971-1978, and 1979-1985, were discovered by members of the Punta Gorda Club in 2009 and donated by Sandi Witzke, on behalf of both groups.
